ContraVac is a Virginia corporation developing diagnostic and therapeutic products for reproductive health. The Company initiated operations in 2002 after receiving a Small Business Innovation Research grant from the National Institutes of Health. The SpermCheck products have been developed with the funds raised in various Preferred Stock Offerings between 2004 and 2007. Offering in September 2004. The lead investor in these Offerings was the Piedmont Angel Network [www.piedmontangelnetwork.com]. We will be offering additional Preferred Stock in 2008 to finance the sales and marketing of the SpermCheck® products. For more information, please contact the Company’s President and CFO, Edward Leary.
In 2007 we expect to begin selling SpermCheck, immunodiagnostic point-of-care sperm tests for use at home or in the clinic. These tests are similar in principle to home pregnancy tests and will be marketed to vasectomized men, couples concerned or curious about their fertility and in the future, men taking oral contraceptives. We estimate the annual global retail markets for SpermCheck to be over $500 million. Patents licensed to the Company from the University of Virginia provide ContraVac an exclusive U.S. market for immunodiagnostic point-of-care sperm tests. Additional U.S. and international patents have been licensed that protect the biomarkers used in SpermCheck. The SpermCheck products have been developed in collaboration with our manufacturing partner Princeton BioMeditech Corporation (PBM).
ContraVac is currently identifying marketing and distribution partners for the SpermCheck products. For more information, please contact the Company’s President Edward Leary.
